Here we have a 1927 Chiltern Pen Boston, pneumatic filler fountain pen in jade green marble, it measures 13.8cm capped and fitted with a 14ct gold medium nib. The pen is in overall very good condition, with the exception of some age-related discolouration that can be seen in the photographs. The pen has been serviced and fitted with a new ink sac.

The pneumatic filling system used by Chilto is based on compression made by sliding the outside shaft of the pen over a internal metal cylinder which encloses the ink sac like a pump piston. The sliding barrel is equipped with a hole on the bottom that must be held closed with a finger in the process of pushing it down for compression, but once opened, allows the expansion of the ink sac and the subsequent filling.
