Description
Here we have a late 1940s Montblanc 146 celluloid telescopic piston filler fountain pen, Sik slope feed, and fitted with a smooth semi-flexible oblique broad nib – OB.The pen is in excellent condition, model no and nib size imprint on the turning knob, no cracks or damage to the material, and is fully serviced with a fresh cork piston seal. The striped brown ink window is a little dark, but the stripes are there.
These celluloid pens are quite hard to find, slightly heavier with a warmer feel to the material; and the one big attraction to the 1950’s pens, other than owning a piece of vintage writing royalty, the nib; in most cases, they are semi-flex to full flex with the usual range of Montblanc nib options.
Some key features of the 1950s pens: made of celluloid, ebonite feed, telescopic filling piston the nib size and model details are imprinted on the turning knob, the ink window is a brown stripe and the Montblanc snow cap on the cap is more of an ivory color against today’s brilliant white.
The Montblanc 146 model is the mid-size pen in the 140 series which continues today, made of Special Resin, single stroke piston filler,14K nib, and acrylic feed.
